Now a very interesiting panel about how Blogs and the Blogosphere are changing PR and Marketing.

No one can afford to be blind and deaf in this new online world. Our
panelists will discuss the current state of the art for tracking what
is happening in the blogosphere, giving tips and advice on how to keep
up with the rapid changes in technology.


With the panelists: Mark Rogers/Market Sentinel, Salim Ismail/PubSub, David Sifry/Technorati, Yann Motte/Yahoo!, Mark Fletcher/Bloglines.

* A Hyperlink is a social gesture (great statement by David Sifry!)
* A lot of talk about the Jeff Jarvis Dell Hell example
* Community = Content, Context and Connection >> comment from Yahoo guy
* I love my job, and the reason for that is that there is sooo much room for improvement (another great one from David Sifry)
* Auditorium: Search engines & podcasting?? Panel: Folksonomy is needed/critical to make search engines in context of podcasts smarter. (Yahoo guy). Text analysis of a podcast is still a long way so tagging is still smartest way...
* Auditorium: doing all those technorati, flickr, del.icio.us tags is a pain in the ass (true!) and where is this going?? Panel: structured blogging ideas, extracting schemes! (NLP?) - You are talking about a classic KM problem (David S.)... multiply tagging is a possible solution...

The next very interesting panel about Podcasting, Photo & Videoblogging.

The panelists are Bertrand Lenotre/Podemus, Jian Ni/Nokia Lifeblog, Olivier Dufour/Skema, Roy Lindeman/Readspeaker and Gabe McIntyre/Xolo.tv

* is videoblogging art? a lot of videobloggers are doing art... (I personally hate that discussion!)
* it is the blogging of the TV generation...
* 1hrs shooted video material means 10hrs of editing >> critical key is "easy to use" editing tools to deploy video material, because if we don't it will stay an artists work and not mass market...
* How to get the context information when moblogging (time, place, person, event,..) >> it is possible to include that meta information to make it better searchable (info coming from Nokia/Lifeblog guy).
* Editing and Metadata enrichment has to be done within the process of publishing otherwise this piece of data is dead - nobody will return later to do this enrichment later on...
* Auditorium: Podcasting is jumping like crazy, because we have ONE format. But videoblogging is 4-5 formats, moblogging even worse, so the format question is critical. lifeblog is just a storage plattform on the PC not a sharing plattform on the web (true!)

nothing abt. podcasting phenomenon - in so far disappointing.


2nd day starting - I missed Mena Trott from Six Apart... (Dana tracked it)

The day is starting with the RSS Panel. With Fergus Burns from Nooke, Scott Rafer/CEO Wireless Ink, Dana van DenHeuvel/Pheedo, Steve Olechowski/FeedBurner, Greg Reinacker/NewsGator.

It started with questions about RSS behaviour to the panel and there really were people admiting that they subscribe to more than 500 RSS Feeds (get a life!).

The panel just started of to "look into their crystal ball"...

* IRSS ist highly relevant for the ad business...
* we have to stop counting impressions (regarding ad business)
* Is RSS the new Worm/Virus environment?
* Maybe yes beause it is the transportation environment but these are problems the industry had with other options before and those got solved too...
* challenge to publishers - how do you monetize on this new content distribution method in a way which appeals to the readers AND the advertising industry?
* Next year we will be talking mostly about CRM! (in context of RSS)
* The term RSS will go away, because we have to explain ourselfs to humans now! Microsoft will probably call it "Webfeed"
